MARGARET Hoare celebrated her 101st birthday on September 2, surrounded by friends and family at Glasshouse Views.
She was born in 1923 in Croydon, Surrey, UK and her husband, Jack Hoare in the same town in 1919 and died in 2002.
Margaret came to Australia in 1962 as a 10 pound pom with her children Janet, Michael, Pat, Keith and Stephen.
She served in WWII in the British Army ATS as a search light operator from October 23 1942, to September 19, 1945.
Margaret was in the 93rd search light regiment, 301st battery- 495th battery.
She has 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
