$3 million rural land sale in Glass House Mountains

By Kirra Livingstone

A 12.72 hectare piece of rural land in the Glass House Mountains was sold for $3.015 million on April 14, by local real estate Clarke and Co. The land is located at Lot 118 894 Steve Irwin Way, just opposite the Glass House Mountains Caltex service station.

Clarke and Co agent, Andy Phythian, said the land sale was an “awesome result” and was on the market for four months before being sold.

“The land was on the market for four months as we had two previous contracts that fell through on finance and the third contract was the one to go through with the purchase,” he said.

Mr Phythian added that there are no plans from the new land owner for any large-scale housing developments.

“There were no existing approvals for the land and it is going to be continued to be rural farmland. The purchase was a lychee farmer who will be setting up the property with further farming infrastructure for the time being,” he said.

“If anything changes with future development options, his position might change.”

The Glass House Mountains is known for a variety of different farms, including pineapple, macadamia, strawberries, and finger limes.

The owner’s name has not been made public.
