$50 Million Boost for Queensland Job Seekers

More than 6,000 unemployed and underemployed Queenslanders will gain access to life-changing training opportunities as part of the latest $49.7 million investment in the Queensland Government’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative.

The funding, announced by the Crisafulli Government, is nearly $5 million more than the previous round and reflects the strong commitment to support disadvantaged job seekers through accredited training and wrap-around services.

The initiative, expected to support more than 100,000 Queenslanders by mid-2025, provides pathways into priority industries such as construction, community services, and hospitality.

Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training Ros Bates said the initiative delivers practical, targeted support to help Queenslanders enter the workforce.

“In this round of Skilling Queenslanders for Work, $49.7 million in funding will help even more Queenslanders to obtain a qualification, thanks to trusted community-based organisations like Multicultural Australia, Carers Queensland Limited, and Skill360 Australia Limited,” Minister Bates said.

Projects receiving grants include Gold Coast Project for Homeless Youth’s ‘Housing and Recovery Program’, Goondiwindi Silo Inc’s ‘Steady, Ready, Go!’, and Cowboys Charity Limited’s ‘Dream, Believe, Achieve – Hospitality’ in Townsville.

Since its launch, the initiative has helped over 62,300 people find jobs—more than half of them aged between 15 and 24.
