A NEW era of tourism development has arrived on the Sunshine Coast with the opening of Avani Mooloolaba Beach Hotel, the region’s first internationally branded new-build hotel in more than 40 years.
The 12-storey beachfront hotel officially opened its doors this week, welcoming guests to the heart of Mooloolaba and signalling growing confidence in the Sunshine Coast as a major domestic and international tourism destination.
Featuring 180 rooms, the new hotel introduces a more contemporary style of beachside accommodation to the region, complete with a rooftop pool and terrace, wellness facilities and new dining venues.
General Manager Scott Wright said the opening marked the culmination of a long-term vision to elevate the visitor experience on the Sunshine Coast.
“We are thrilled to welcome our first guests today and deliver on our promise to bring a new level of accommodation and dining to the Sunshine Coast,” Mr Wright said.
Dining at the hotel is led by Sully’s Rooftop under Executive Chef Marky Godbeer, while guests can also access AvaniSpa, AvaniFit and a ground-floor lobby bar.
The opening comes amid broader investment across the region, including the Mooloolaba Foreshore Revitalisation Project and the $170 million redevelopment of Sunshine Coast Airport, which is expanding connections to key domestic and international destinations including Auckland, Singapore and Denpasar.
