As a fund raiser for the Glasshouse Country Uniting Church, an event titled, “Guess who is coming for dinner” is undertaken on a quarterly basis in the homes of church members. Participants and hosts choose either midday or evening on a Friday or Saturday and record their names in a book. Neither hosts nor participants know their fellow diners until the day of the event when they open secret invitation envelopes. It is co-ordinated by Glenda and Neil Halpin who keep us guessing each time!
Irrespective of the financial benefits for the Church, the flow-on effect for the local community, or the quality of the food provided by the hosts – time with like-minded people and the pleasure and friendships strengthened or formed from these events is immeasurable.
