SHEPHERDSON and Boyd reported a top-quality yarding of 1,453 head at Toogoolawah on 23 January. Heavy feeder steers remained firm, while the more tropical-type steers were slightly easier. Backgrounder steers sold into a very strong market with a larger panel of buyers in attendance, although tail-end, lesser-quality No. 5 steers eased. In the heifer section, breeder-quality heifers sold to a dearer market, with quality feeder and backgrounder heifers holding firm. Cows and calves, along with cows, sold to a firm market for the quality offered.
