A TALENTED group of young performers from Beerburrum State School has been crowned Queensland State Champion at the TFT State Finals.
The school’s Junior Glee Choir, made up of 12 students from Prep to Year 3, claimed a Gold Medal and the Queensland State Championship in the Small Teams Future Legends Glee section during the competition held at Matthew Flinders Anglican College on June 7.
The result capped off an impressive first year of competition for the choir, which qualified for the state finals after a strong regional level performance in May.
Principal and coach, Ms MacKellar, said the achievement was a proud moment for the students, families and school community.
“These students have shown tremendous commitment, enthusiasm and courage throughout the year,” she said.
“To see their hard work rewarded with a Gold Medal and a State Championship in our very first year of competition is incredibly exciting. We couldn’t be prouder of them.”
The success continued with Year 6 student Alice, who competed in the Glee solo section and earned a Bronze Medal.
The results have secured places at the National Finals in September for both the Junior Glee Choir and Alice, where they will compete against some of Australia’s best young performers.
