THREE Beerwah Golf Club pennants teams have made the finals for the first time in the club’s history in the Glasshouse Mountains Golf Zone.
The finalists were Division 1, Division 2, and the Master’s teams.
The finals were played on August 28 at the Caboolture Golf Club with the Division 1 team winning in a close battle against Caboolture.
Division 2 and Masters teams lost against Wantima but Masters’ team captain, Craig Walters, said it was a great achievement for the club.
“It is a great milestone,” he said.
“This season brought a lot of our golfing members together displaying high levels of teamwork, mateship and pride in representing the club and their community spirit.” Walters said he hoped the success of the teams would flow through to an increased popularity of the sport through clinic’s, particularly at the junior level.
“We have been working hard alongside our golf pro, Jon Mellish, and long-time members Col Penny and Dougy Young to develop our junior clinic held every Saturday,” he said
“These three have been coaching and educating local juniors in golfing, with a key focus of having fun, and its great to see the parents watch on… it’s a real family affair and these kids are our future.”
Craig said all the teams played with a true Beerwah spirit.
