Beerwah Sportsground Management Committee would love more community support

THE Beerwah Sportsground, an important community facility for local sport and recreation, is managed and maintained by the Beerwah Sportsground Management Committee, a group of community volunteers.

Committee chair David Weil is proud of the tireless effort these dedicated individuals have contributed to the sportsground over many years.

With the ever-increasing pressure and challenges faced from restrictions and requirements enforced by Sunshine Coast Council, the committee is keen to welcome additional support and involvement from locals with an interest in promoting and improving the sportsground.

Anyone interested in getting involved is invited to the committee’s upcoming annual general meeting on Wednesday, February 2 at 7pm in the meeting room at the sportsground.

This vital community facility is used by a range of affiliates including Beerwah Rugby League, Glasshouse Pony Club, Sunshine Coast Kennel Club, Beerwah Charity Sports, Beerwah Lions Club, Beerwah Rotary Club, Bocce Bowls, Beerwah and District RSL Sub Branch, Beerwah State High School and Glasshouse Christian College.

There is also a community hub building at the sportsground where Celebrate Glasshouse Country can be found, with rooms available to hire by groups needing space to hold activities and events.

The hardcourts at the rear of the sportsground, a shared facility between the high school and the sportsground, are available for hire in out-of-school hours, weekends and school holiday periods.

The hardcourts cater for tennis, basketball and netball and have recently been resurfaced and the lighting upgraded.

The sportsground also has outdoor gym equipment, a children’s playground and three (free) electric barbeques with tables and seating for use by the community.
