THE Blackall Range and wider Sunshine Coast community is being invited to come together for an evening of food, entertainment and fundraising later this month, supporting the vital work of local school chaplains across Maleny, Montville and Mapleton.
The Blackall Range Fundraising Dinner will be held at 5.30pm on Friday, May 29, at QCCC on Obi Obi Road, Mapleton, with organisers promising a night filled with laughter, good food and community spirit.
Tickets are $75 and include a three-course dinner, live entertainment throughout the evening and a silent auction featuring artisan products and locally made items.
Funds raised will support the Blackall Range State School Chaplaincy Service, which provides wellbeing and practical support to students, families and school communities across the Range.
Local chaplains “Chappy Chris” and “Chappy Vicki” currently work across Maleny, Montville and Mapleton state schools, however organisers say government funding only covers one day per week for each school, making community fundraising essential to maintain services.
The chaplaincy program provides one-on-one support for students, parents, carers and staff, particularly during times of crisis, as well as running breakfast clubs, lunchtime activities and school camps.
Chaplains also assist with classroom support, tuckshop services and P&C involvement, while helping provide resources for low-income families and organising Christmas hampers for those in need.
Organisers say everyone is welcome to attend the fundraiser, which offers an opportunity for the broader community to support local children and families while enjoying a relaxed and entertaining evening together.
