BEERWAH Bulldogs have capped off a strong season with premiership glory after dominating the Sunshine Coast Junior Rugby League (SCJRL) Under 14 Division 1 Boys Grand Final.
The Bulldogs claimed a convincing 24-6 victory over the Caloundra Sharks at Nambour on Saturday, September 25, with Beerwah’s Jake Bonney named Player of the Match.
Beerwah entered the decider after an impressive season in which they finished second on the ladder and lost just three games.
They faced a Caloundra side that had defeated minor premiers Maroochydore Swans to book their place in the Grand Final.
But the Bulldogs took control of the premiership clash, crossing for five tries to one on their way to an 18-point victory.
The result secured the Under 14 Division 1 premiership and capped off an impressive campaign for the young Bulldogs.
“An incredible effort from this group of young men. The hard work, determination, teamwork and Bulldog spirit you’ve shown throughout the season has paid off,” the club said in a statement.
“A massive congratulations to every player, coach, team staff member and family who has supported these boys all season.
“You should all be incredibly proud.”
Beerwah’s Under 17 Division 2 Boys were also in Grand Final action at Nambour after a strong season of their own.
They faced a tough Kawana Dolphins outfit and remained competitive throughout the decider, but ultimately fell two converted tries short.
Kawana secured the premiership with a 24-12 victory, leaving the Bulldogs to finish the season as runners-up.
Despite missing out on a second junior premiership, the Under 17s’ Grand Final appearance added to a strong finals campaign across the Beerwah club.
