Calling Stallholders – Knitfest Is Back!

After seven colourful years attracting more than 12,000 visitors annually, the beloved Knitfest Yarn & Fibre Arts Festival went quiet following the retirement of founding director Debs Swain.

Now, after a well-earned break and some time travelling, Ms Swain is back—revitalised and ready to launch a fresh twist on the original event.

Introducing the Knitfest Yarn Markets—a new fibre-focused celebration centred on the materials and makers who bring yarn-based arts to life.

This streamlined event will spotlight artisan yarns, fibre art supplies, and handcrafted goods designed to delight crafters and creators of all ages.

Set across two venues—the Maleny State School (July 5–6) and the RSL Hall (July 5 only)—the 2025 event invites stallholders who specialise in everything from indie-dyed yarn and spinning tools to handmade treasures and fibre art kits.

A limited number of stalls remain available, and organisers are also seeking a coffee and snacks van to help fuel the creative energy.

While this year’s event won’t include the full-scale yarnbombing of previous festivals, several iconic lanterns and the famously yarn-covered BMW will return.

A major highlight will be a special exhibition by Maleny’s own “Madame Tussaud,” Allan Noon, showcasing celebrity mannequins dressed in garments crafted from recycled fabrics.

Be part of the next chapter in Maleny’s beloved celebration of fibre, flair, and community.
