MORE than 150 people gathered at the Witta Recreation Club on Saturday, July 25, to mark the countdown to the club’s centenary celebrations next month.
Residents from across Witta and surrounds, ranging from toddlers to nonagenarians, responded to the community call-out and came together to form a giant “100” on the sporting fields.
The gathering built excitement for the official centenary celebrations on Saturday, September 12, when the recreation grounds will host a full day of free family entertainment.
The program will feature pony rides, face painting, an animal nursery, children’s activities and sporting demonstrations from the many clubs that have called the grounds home over the decades.
Historical presentations will recognise the Witta Recreation Club’s century of contribution to the district and pay tribute to the generations of volunteers whose dedication has helped the organisation thrive.
Celebrations will continue into the evening with a ticketed centenary dance, giving the community an opportunity to celebrate the club’s remarkable milestone.
