Community profile – Debbie Todhunter

Q: Tell us about yourself?
A: My name is Debbie Todhunter. I live in Landsborough, and I’ve been working at Vinnies for about 12 to 15 years, probably one of the longest-serving here.
Q: Can you tell us a bit about your role and what you love about it?
A: I was the team leader for many years, and after I retired, I came back and now volunteer once a week to help run the shop. I really enjoy staying involved and being part of it.
Q: Why do you love living in Landsborough?
A: It has great advantages, you’re close to the highway and the sea, but still get that country lifestyle. I live on one acre, and I love the peaceful, countryside feel. It’s very beautiful.
Q: How long have you lived here, and what brought you to the area?
A: I’ve lived here for nearly 20 years. I moved here because I wanted more land as I was breeding Siamese and Oriental cats at the time and needed space for a cattery.
Q: What’s your favourite thing about living in Landsborough?
A: The community. Once you settle in, people get to know you, it’s very friendly. I love how relaxed it is. It’s just a very comfortable place to live.
Q: Do you have a favourite or recommended spot in the area?
A: Pioneer Park is fabulous, especially if you have visitors with kids. It’s safe, enclosed, and has barbecues and great facilities. My family even travels from the other side of Brisbane to come up and use it.
Q: Is there anything you’d like to see changed or improved in the town?

A: Not really. I think Landsborough will always stay the way it is because it’s a historic little town, and that’s part of its charm. I’d just like to see it stay as it is and keep that strong community feel.
