Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
A: My name is Lynn. I live in Landsborough, and I volunteer one day a week at Vinnies in the main street.
Q: Why did you move to Landsborough?
A: We moved here about seven and a half years ago from North Queensland. We have four children, and three of them live in this area, along with our 14 grandchildren, so we wanted to be closer to family.
Q: What do you love about living in Landsborough?
A: I love that it has a small country town feel and a really nice community. We’ve gotten to know a lot of people and have wonderful neighbours. That’s what makes it special. We regularly catch up with other couples, and it’s just a great way to live, having that sense of community and family nearby.
Q: What advice would you give to someone thinking of moving here?
A: I’d say it’s a great place because, along with the strong sense of community, all the services you need are close by – doctors, dentists, hairdressers, supermarkets. You don’t have to travel far for anything.
Q: Is there a favourite or hidden spot you’d recommend in the area?
A: It depends on what you’re looking for, but there are lots of lovely places. The Dularcha National Park has some beautiful walks, and the dam is also a great spot. The coast is very close, so there’s plenty to explore.
Q: Are there any improvements you’d like to see in the area?
A: It depends what you call improvements…I actually quite like it the way it is. It’s a smaller community and while nearby areas are growing rapidly, I wouldn’t want that to happen here. That smaller, close-knit feel is really important.
