WELL, the countdown is officially on for Maleny’s mobile Come and Try Day this Thursday, January 26 from 8am-12noon and there’s plenty happening around town to really delve into what the community has to offer.
Be sure to make the most of exploring beautiful Maleny and stop by and get know some of the great groups and people that make Maleny.
There’ll be plenty happening at the showgrounds and the Community Precinct. Early birds can head along to the Precinct and join the Maleny parkrun community on a run or walk around the area. If a slower pace is more your speed, why not check out Rhee Taekwondo’s demonstrations there too? Both start at 7.30am.
The Apex Club’s Big Aussie Day Breakfast is on from 7am at the showgrounds, followed by the new citizenship ceremony, with live music from the Maleny Singers at TS Centaur Building at 9am.
Maleny’s 5th Light Horse Regiment will be parading down Maple Street from 10am.
At Pioneer Village, the Blackall Range Horseless Carriage Club will be hosting a free sausage sizzle from 8am-12pm, with tours of the club house and a great display of classic cars. The Historical Society will be hosting tours throughout the grounds and museum, with morning tea available and why not learn the basic of the pioneer ukulele.
There will be a range of sporting groups on site at the showgrounds, giving you a chance to have a hit, throw, kick or stretch at. Range Croquet will be running games and learn to play sessions, have a hit with Maleny Tennis and gain some tips with free coaching.
Maleny Rangers Football Club will be hosting demos and free play and the Maleny Community Gym will be open offering tours, demonstrations and information. You’ll be able to don costumes with the zany performers at Maleny Players Playhouse.
At the Precinct, Netball will have their hoops set up for you to have a go.
The Maleny Neighbourhood Centre will be open from 9.30am for information and tours and there will be a Remembrance Ceremony held from 10am-12noon honouring the First Peoples of this land.
Rotary Club of Maleny will be hosting a sausage sizzle at the Precinct from 8am-12noon and Neil Andison (Maleny’s own Platypus Whisperer) will be holding demonstrations throughout the morning.

Drop by the Maleny Bowls Club for a “come and try” roll, then head over to the Maleny Golf Club for some putting practice. Over at the Maleny State High School Activity Centre, try your hand at Pickleball and Table Tennis.
