Coolum and Mudjimba will host a packed calendar of community events this December, with markets, live music, outdoor movies and carols helping locals and visitors celebrate the holiday season.
Sunshine Coast Council strong community portfolio councillor Taylor Bunnag said the line-up offered plenty to enjoy, from twilight markets to carols by the beach.
“The Sunshine Coast is all about connection with each other and our beautiful place, and local events celebrate our strong sense of community spirit,” Cr Bunnag said.
Coolum Lions Twilight Markets will run at Tickle Park every Friday night in December, with stalls and Christmas treats on offer.
Jack Morgan Park will host the Salty Saturdays Christmas Party market on December 13, raising funds for Genetic Cures for Kids – Our Moon’s Mission.
Coolum Business and Tourism president Paul Miley said the event would feature live music, carols and food, bringing the community together by the sea.
Surfing Queensland’s Cooee Grommet Pro will be held from December 13 to 15 at Coolum or Yaroomba, depending on conditions.
Mudjimba Community Carols will be held on December 20, hosted by Mudjimba Surf Life Saving Club.
Other events include a Christmas Day community lunch at the Coolum Civic Centre, Coolum Flicks in the Park on December 27, and New Year’s Eve celebrations with fireworks at Coolum Beach at 8.30pm on December 31.
Division 9 councillor Maria Suarez encouraged residents to get involved and support local businesses and community groups.
