A man has been arrested at Landsborough following a shooting incident on the Bruce Highway near Aussie World at Palmview. Queensland Police Service has confirmed several related incidents included an alleged shooting, multiple vehicle thefts, and a fatality.
Emergency services were called to the southbound lanes of the Bruce Highway near Palmview at approximately 12:10 PM after reports of a traffic crash. A QPS statement issued this afternoon (Monday, April 21) stated preliminary investigations reveal that a red Porsche Macan was involved in a multi-vehicle collision. The driver of the Porsche, armed with a firearm, exited the vehicle and approached a white SsangYong Rexton, shooting the male driver in the arm before stealing the vehicle and fleeing the scene.
The two men are not believed to have known each other.
Police later found the stolen Rexton crashed in Landsborough near Forestry Road at around 12:35 PM. The suspect then stole a grey Mazda 3 but was apprehended shortly after near Steve Irwin Way. The firearm was recovered inside the vehicle.
Three crime scenes have been established: one in Palmview and two in Landsborough. Tragically, a woman involved in the initial traffic crash has died, and a man has been transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
