Road improvements for the Paradise Dam project are progressing with the award of a $13 million contract to Hazell Brothers, aimed at upgrading eight key intersections in the area. The project, the second of three planned road upgrades, is set to improve safety and accommodate increased traffic to and from the dam.
The work will support up to 30 jobs in the Bundaberg and Burnett regions, with construction expected to begin in the next two months. Key intersections at Booyal Dallarnil Road and the Bruce Highway, as well as Dallarnil Road and Paradise Dam Road, will be lengthened and upgraded to improve safety.
Queensland Minister for Water Glenn Butcher highlighted the importance of these upgrades, stating, “This work is necessary to support the increased vehicle movements expected around the dam during the construction of the new wall.”
Bundaberg Member Tom Smith emphasised the long-term benefits for local motorists and job creation.
Sunwater CEO Glenn Stockton confirmed ongoing community engagement and transparency throughout the process.
