Nandita Chakraborty’s best-selling memoir, Dirty Little Secrets, has been reimagined as a groundbreaking “Book to Gallery” experience, set to debut at the SOL Gallery during the 2024 Melbourne Fringe Festival. The exhibition delves into Chakraborty’s emotional and sensory journey as an immigrant from India to Australia.
Chakraborty, an Indian-born Australian author and artist, invites visitors to connect with her personal story through touch, sound, and visual art. The exhibition highlights her struggles with migration, including a near-death accident, and her path to resilience. Collaborations with renowned artists like Akhshay Gandhi, Rohit Bhasi, and Samantha Lord enrich the show with diverse cultural and artistic perspectives.
A central piece, Two Worlds Collide, captures the fusion of Chakraborty’s past and present worlds, symbolizing her transformation. The exhibition will launch with a press conference on August 21, 2024, at Victoria Trades Hall, Carlton. The event will feature key figures, including Victorian Multicultural Commission Chairperson Vivienne Nguyen.
