ART lovers are invited to step inside the creative heart of the Sunshine Coast when Open Studios Sunshine Coast returns this month, offering 10 days of behind-the-scenes access to some of the region’s most talented artists.
The popular annual event gives visitors the rare opportunity to meet artists in their own studios, discover how their work is created and purchase original pieces directly from the makers.
Spanning the coast and hinterland, the self-guided art trails stretch from the Glass House Mountains to Mapleton and from Caloundra to Coolum, showcasing the diversity of the Sunshine Coast’s thriving arts community.
This year’s program features artists working across a wide range of mediums, including ceramics, painting, sculpture, photography, glass, jewellery, textiles, printmaking, woodwork, metalwork, mixed media and drawing.
Many participating artists will also host workshops, allowing visitors to try their hand at new creative skills.
The event is divided into two trail weekends, making it easy for visitors to explore different parts of the region.
The Coastal Trail opens on July 18-19, while the Hinterland Trail follows on July 25-26. Several artists will extend their opening times or present additional workshops and special events throughout the 10-day program. Visitors are encouraged to plan their itinerary in advance by checking participating studios, opening times and workshop details online.openstudiossunshinecoast.com.au/
