Eumundi Streetscape Revamp Begins to Enhance Safety and Charm

Eumundi, renowned for its markets and creative arts scene, is set for a major facelift aimed at enhancing its charm and improving safety.

Construction has begun on a new streetscape along Memorial Drive, designed with extensive community input to reflect the town’s character.

Sunshine Coast Division 10 Councillor David Law said the upgrades would create a safer and more accessible main street while preserving Eumundi’s vibrant atmosphere.

“The upgrades along Memorial Drive will help the street operate more safely and efficiently and enhance the look and experience of the bustling town while improving accessibility for everyone,” Cr Law said.

Construction will be staged to minimise disruption to local businesses and markets.

The first stage, the Bank Arcade zone, will run from August to October 2024, featuring a new pedestrian crossing, upgraded footpaths, lighting, landscaping, and seating areas. The Etheridge Street zone will follow from October, delivering similar improvements, including a ‘Bullock’ circle heritage installation.

A construction break is scheduled over the peak summer trading period, with works set to finish by February 2025.

The $3.3 million project is funded by Sunshine Coast Council, with an additional $500,000 from the Queensland Government’s South East Queensland Community Stimulus Program.
