‘POP – Protect our Pollinators’ … new work from local artist Jim Cox
You may have seen an exhibition ’SOS- Save our Species’ at Mary Cairncross Reserve Gallery, Maleny in July 2022. Montville artist Jim Cox, asked us to join him in protesting the loss of so many Australian animals. Putting them on a ‘war footing’ with us drew attention, in an informative, yet amusing way to how our behaviour impacts negatively on their very survival. The work was very well received and you may have seen these exhibited as prints at Vianta Café, Beerwah, April 2023.
Jim is at it again! A new exhibition .. ‘ Protect our Pollinators‘.. at Mary Cairncross Reserve Gallery from Nov 25th -Dec 3rdPOP will again inform and delight. Jim’s images form the basis of another book, again a collaboration with local author Elaine Green.
Not JUST bees and butterflies, many of these native pollinators will surprise you .. birds; mammals, gheckos, biteys! Revealing the mysteries of their secret lives may help you look out for them and protect them!
Twenty eight original artworks in a variety of sizes and formats will be available for purchase; and the ‘POP’ books. T-shirts with prints of POP and SOS images will be on display, and can be ordered. A series of limited edition prints of (unframed) artwork can also be ordered. Something for everyone!
Jim will be in the Gallery every day of the exhibition from 10am to 2pm. A program of environmental experts will be speaking at the Gallery on weekdays from 11am to noon .. further details released soon. More info see www.jim-cox-montville.com
