Mountain Bike Orienteering is a sport suitable for all levels of abilities and fitness. There are athletes trying to win an Australian Championship in their age division, there are families out to learn a new activity and there are a large amount of adventure racers who join us to hone in on their navigational skills. Basically you are given a map and asked to locate targets on it by following the map and riding your bike.
Over the 24th and 25th of August we are offering 3 events on the Sunshine Coast. One is a sprint in Coolum where you will find your way around a school and its precinct. It will be approximately 10 km long. Then there will be a middle distance event off road near Wildhorse mountains in the Beerburrum State Forest. You can choose a course up to about 20km long or just do as much as you can in a 90 min timeframe. On the Sunday we are holding the long distance race with a choice of 5 line courses or a 90 min and a 3 hour Score course in the East Beerburrum State Forest.
Saturday August 24th Middle Distance. Wild Horse Mountain Area.
Saturday afternoon sprint distance at Coolum State High.
Sunday August 25th LONG DISTANCE: East Beerburrum State Forest.
There will be 5 non-championship classes offered for conventional bikes and 2 for E-Bikes
PRICES: EARLY BIRD PRICES to midnight Friday 16th August. A late entry surcharge of 50% will apply after 16th August until entries close at midnight on Wednesday 21st August.
Sprint Champs: Members $25. Non Members$40 . Junior $10*
Middle Champs: Members $30. Non Members$50 . Junior $10*
Long Champs: Members $30. Non Members$50 . Junior $10*
*Juniors 14 years or under (at 31st Dec 2024) are free if they are riding in the Recreational courses with an adult. Family discounts apply for 4 or more members is enabled in Eventor.
