FAMILIES are invited to pack a picnic blanket and head to the coast later this month as Picnic on Kings transforms Kings Beach into a celebration of local food, entertainment and family fun.
The popular event, part of this year’s The Curated Plate festival, will take over the Kings Beach Amphitheatre and surrounding parkland on Saturday, July 25, from 10am to 4pm, offering a full day of activities designed to showcase the Sunshine Coast’s food producers while keeping children entertained.
A major drawcard will be the appearance of everyone’s favourite blue heeler sisters, Bluey and Bingo, who will feature in a live interactive stage experience where families can join in games including Magic Asparagus, Keepy Uppy and Magic Xylophone.
The event will feature two distinct zones. A ticketed Stage Show area will host live music, a 4 Ingredients cooking competition and the Bluey Live Interactive Experience across two sessions, while a free Activation Zone will offer hands-on activities throughout the day.
Visitors can take part in interactive cooking and planting workshops, sample local produce, meet Sunshine Coast farmers and producers, explore beehive displays and enjoy live entertainment, food trucks and relaxed picnic-style dining.
Younger visitors will also find plenty to enjoy with face painting, lawn games, a petting zoo and a reading corner hosted by Sunshine Coast Libraries.
Sunshine Coast Division 2 Councillor Terry Landsberg said the event celebrated the region’s outstanding local produce while creating a memorable family day out. “Picnic on Kings is a wonderful way to showcase our stunning coastal lifestyle while connecting families with the incredible farmers and producers from across the Sunshine Coast,” Cr Landsberg said.
“We encourage everyone to bring a picnic blanket, enjoy the beach atmosphere and experience the best of our local food, entertainment and community spirit.”
Tickets for the Stage Show sessions cost $16.50 per person, with children under 12 months admitted free. Entry to the Activation Zone is free.
