THE Sunshine Coast’s signature arts celebration is marking a major milestone, with the 10th anniversary of the Horizon Festival bringing the community together until May 10.
The annual festival features 35 events across 13 locations, transforming parks, beaches and public spaces into hubs of creativity on Kabi Kabi and Jinibara Country.
Residents and visitors can enjoy a mix of free and affordable experiences from live music and performance to film, dance and hands-on workshops designed to explore the intersection of art, people and place.
The live music program includes award-winning songwriter Danny Widdicombe on May 8 (6.30–9.30pm) and First Nations indie pop artist Jem Cassar-Daley on May 9 (6.30–9.30pm).
Families can enjoy Babe Under the Stars on May 9 (3.30–7.30pm) at Baringa Forest Park, celebrating 30 years of the film Babe with a pre-show picnic atmosphere, live music and activities.
The festival wraps up on May 10 (9am–6pm) with Horizon Dance Hall in Nambour, an all-ages celebration of music and movement featuring styles from boot scooting to Bollywood. www.horizonfestival.com.au
