MALENY District Sport and Recreation Club is introducing Frisbee Golf (or Disc Golf) to the Maleny Sports Park, next to Beersheba Museum on the Maleny Precinct.
Beginning Monday, July 6 at 9am, each day till midday during the second week of the school holidays, everyone is welcome to come and test their skills. It’s for free.
If you own a favourite frisbee, bring it along. Otherwise, you can borrow the 3 frisbees to get you around the 3-hole course.
Despite the name, Frisbee Golf has little resemblance to traditional golf. Both sports are laid out like a traditional golf course, usually 9 holes.
Each has a starting tee box followed by a par 3 or par 4 fairway. Frisbee golf ends with a basket instead of a putting green. There are three types of frisbee, one engineered for long distance, one for mid-range and one for the final approach to the basket.
Wherever the frisbee lands reflects the skill of the thrower.
Frisbee Golf is a popular outdoor social activity for all ages and abilities. No expensive gear is needed, just 3 frisbees and a course to play on. You can compete with yourself or test your skills with family or friends.

The Sunshine Coast Disc Golf Club is happy to come to Maleny and run some clinics to show the finer points of managing the flight of the 3 frisbees and some basic tactics.
