Future rural leaders shine in Maleny Show awards program

THE Maleny Show Society has introduced four inspiring young women competing in the 2026 Showgirl and Rural Ambassador Awards, showcasing the strength and future of agriculture and community leadership in the region.

Year 11 Maleny State High School students Alexandra Haslam and Keelee Thompson are combining agricultural studies, vocational training and hands-on experience through cattle and horse showing, junior judging and rural community involvement.

Keelee is also actively involved in her family’s stud operation, while Alexandra participates in pony club and dressage.

Isabelle Moore is pursuing a pathway into animal health, balancing study and part-time work with practical livestock experience and cattle exhibiting as she works toward a future career as a veterinarian.

Elite para swimmer Kael Thompson has represented Australia internationally and recently won gold medals at the Australian Open Championships.

Alongside her sporting achievements, she remains strongly connected to agriculture through her family’s cattle operation and mentoring younger participants.

Winners of the 2026 awards will be announced following the Maleny Show pre-show selection event.
