GH masters team revamped

THE Glasshouse Masters Swim Team, previously known as the Beerwah Masters Swim Team, has rebranded marking a fresh start for the dedicated group of swimmers.

Team captain, Kylie Cornock, said the rebrand was done to better reflect where athletes come from.

“The new name reflects and recognises the inclusivity of team members who train and compete from across the area and celebrates this magnificent region that we call home,” she said.

With the new name, comes a new coach and former member of the masters team, Ngarita Kahi.

She has prior experience coaching a junior swim team in New Zealand, and lead the squad to compete at a national level.

“I am excited to be coaching the Masters and honestly, I’m excited for the future of Masters sport,” she said.

“We have some very competitive swimmers in the Glasshouse Masters Swim Team who compete with the confidence of doing their best.

“At the end of the day, we share a team spirit.”

The team recently competed at the Pan Pacific Masters Games on the Gold Coast, coming away with new personal best times and strong placings in their events. kirra@gcnews.com.au
