Happy birthday Maleny Commerce

CURRENT and past members of Maleny Commerce came together at Hotel Maleny recently to celebrate the organisation’s 35th birthday.

President Kay Ridge, from Dash Social, took the opportunity to highlight the chamber’s achievements including the success of the Maleny Gift Card, a recent initiative of immediate past president Nicole Hilton. To date, more than $102,000 has been spent with these cards, which is money that remains in Maleny.

One initiative Kay has been working on during her 12 months as president is establishing a Maleny Commerce member’s card. Initially the card would allow active members to receive a fuel discount at Liberty Fuels (currently 4 cents per litre). The chamber is looking for other businesses interested in supporting the program.

Chamber committee members are looking forward to the Maleny Late Night Christmas event to be held in Maple Street on Friday, December 10 from 5-8pm. Although the street will not close for the event there will be activities happening in the Maleny Community Centre and in businesses up and down the street from Santa photos at Easton Lawyers to kids’ activities down at the Riverside Centre.

As the activities are predominately under cover, the event will go ahead whatever the weather.

This year the chamber received a grant from Sunshine Coast Council to support the hosting of a Sustainable Futures Expo in 2022, which will bring about 1,000 people to Maleny.

Maleny Commerce is always keen to welcome local businesses as members. If you would like to keep up to date with chamber activities make sure you follow their Facebook page.
