As a landscape painter, Heather works in oils, acrylics and watercolours.
Her colourful arts background includes a Diploma of Visual Arts TAFE; a past president of Arts Connect Inc, Sunshine Coast and Hinterland, Queensland; past owner and curator Tree Frog Gallery Maleny; children’s book illustrator for Greater Glider Productions, Maleny, Queensland; and includes many solo and collaborative exhibitions over 35 years.
Heather delights in the ‘disordered order’ of the natural world. Her response to pandemic lockdowns was to return full time to a purposeful focus on her Arts practice. A mainstream job ended, and she hit the studio with new inspiration, perspective and change arrived by revisiting places through her brushes.
Her love of the landscape is evident as she traverses her environment, observing the lights, shadows, tangled brush, majestic trees, glistening waterways, varied birdlife, vast and many colourful skies and vistas.
In Heather’s words, “I hope that my work will pull you into a time, a memory, a moment, a fleeting promise where you find joy in the simple quiet places. Art is a language that I have found I need no words for. To immerse myself in the act of creating images, I am on an internal and intuitive sensory journey, interpreting my landscape the way I feel it. I hope that my works resonate on some level of enjoyment for you too!”
Her exhibition of works at VIANTA ARTS 70 Simpson Street Beerwah will feature mainly a series of small watercolour landscapes and will be on display during the months of August and September.
Everyone welcome.
