Help to pack birthing kits

Contributed by June Robson

Zonta Club of Blackall Range are holding their 15th annual Birthing Kits packing morning on Saturday 20th May, at the RSL Maleny, from 09.30. To date 2 ½ million kits have been packed and distributed to over 30 countries globally, helping to give women a safe birth and a healthy baby.
Birthing Kits was started by a Zonta Adelaide Club and has grown into a Foundation which has trained 10,000 local birth attendants and midwives, and provided work and income for the local community.
The Kit contains a plastic sheet, scalpel, gauze, rubber gloves, string – all of this for $5. The women who receive these Kits are the lucky ones, since they are able to have their baby in a relatively clean environment.
If you are able, we would love to see you on Saturday, 20th May.
