Hinterland arts event receives funding boost

ONE of the hinterland’s most exciting arts and culture events has received a $10,000 grant that organisers say will help deliver a world-class line-up for locals to savour.

Rangebow Festival received $10,000 through its charity arm Range of Life thanks to funding from the Sunshine Coast Council’s latest Major Grants Round.

It is part of $600,000 council has given to community organisations this year.

Rangebow director, Wayne Parcell, said this year’s festival, just the second after its inaugural 2022 launch, will showcase a top line-up of local groups, artisans and performers.

“The world-class program includes 30 events delivered in collaboration with local community groups, artisans, businesses, performers and schools,” Mr Parcell said.

“The festival enables a wide variety of rich experiences, including indigenous food and culture, theatre, opera in a chapel, classical and modern music, and a family dance party integrating values of diversity, inclusion, sustainability and reconciliation through education, entertainment, engagement, dialogue and creative activities.

“Tickets for all events are selling fast, especially the world premiere performances of ‘IAGO’ and ‘Juggling’ – see them before they go to Broadway!”

The event is conducted at multiple sites throughout the Blackall Range including Mapleton, Flaxton, Montville and Maleny from August 10-13.
