Hinterland tennis event

THE Hinterland Range tennis event in Maleny on Saturday January 31 marks 3 years of continuous interclub activities held on the Maleny tennis courts at the Maleny Showground.

With nearly 40 players from Maleny, Witta, Landsborough, Montville, Mapleton and Mooloolah hitting the courts with mixed doubles, timed to complete every half hour, there was plenty of tennis on the four courts to entertain the many spectators on the day.

The friendly competition saw two eventual winners, Noel George (Landsborough/Maleny) and Xochi Lindholm (Montville) taking home the embroidered hand towels (Embroidery Fx) and a host of other players taking home various prizes.

This event was held to coincide with the Australian Open Women’s Final and included an on-court viewing which was a great experience and a great match to watch after a wonderful spread of food for all attendees.

The next planned event will coincide with the Wimbledon tournament in June and will also be a celebration of 100 years of existence for the Maleny Tennis club, a momentous milestone!
