How good is your ABC

FRIENDS of the ABC and special guests, including Gold Walkley award winning journalist and founding member of ABC Alumni Quentin Dempster AM, will meet on August 27 in Maleny to discuss the state of the national broadcaster.

The Maleny Community Centre event – How good is your ABC – will be hosted by Friends of the ABC and ABC Alumni. Topics for discussion will include looming funding and staff cuts.

The audience will hear from Mr Dempster on the current state of the ABC and recollections of how the ABC’s 7.30 Report Queensland edition covered the landmark Fitzgerald Inquiry.

The audience will also learn how ABC Emergency helped save lives and property during the 2019 Sunshine Coast bushfires, and about its response to COVID.

Former 7.30 Report Queensland journalist and journalism academic Dr Mark Hayes and chief of staff and senior journalist at ABC Sunshine Coast Bianca Clare will also attend the meeting.

How good is your ABC will be held at 6.30pm on Friday, August 27. Tickets are $10 and available from Maleny Visitor Information Centre, 23 Maple Street or via https://www.abcfriends.net.au/maleny_event_2021
