International boxing comes to Beerwah

By Kirra Livingstone

INTERNATIONAL boxing is coming to Beerwah when Liam Pope fights Indonesian Mocham Sholim on September 9 at the Beerwah Hotel.

It is Pope’s first fight since suffering a broken hand in April against Ukrainian-born Erik Sokolov.

The super bantam weight broke his hand in the third round of that fight but fought bravely before losing on points after 10 rounds.

General admission tickets are $75. Tables of 10 with drinks and food are $2500.

This will be the Hinterland Boxing Club product’s fifth professional fight, which includes three wins.

It will also be his first professional fight on his home turf in Beerwah.
