It’s Oktoberfest at Maleny Bowls Club

THE Maleny Bowls club hosted their Oktoberfest-themed come and try day on October 16, with families and friends enjoying German music, sausages, and beer.

Games Director Alan Cook said there was a great atmosphere at the club, with 40 people attending throughout the day, with many younger people trying out the traditionally older player’s sport.

“It’s good to see a lot of the community here, there’s different varieties of people here, there’s kids here and young guys here and enquiring about playing on Wednesday nights,” he said.

“It’s great to see people out there enjoying themselves.”

The Maleny Lions Club and the Maleny Rotary Club both helped out with the day as well, with the Lions cooking up the German sausages, and the Rotary running the raffles.

This year’s event was a massive improvement from last year, which the club credited to the community clubs banding together, as well as the colourful theme for the day.
