GET ready to be swept up in celebration on Saturday May 17, as the Landsborough Museum transforms into a lively hub of history, heritage, and family fun as part of local celebrations for the Australian Heritage Festival.
From 10am to 2pm, the museum grounds will echo with laughter, music, and the gentle clop of pony hooves as families gather for a free community event packed with activities for all ages.
The Landsborough Street Festival will begin with a Welcome to Country led by First Nations elders, grounding the celebrations in respect for the Traditional Custodians of the land.
Children will be drawn to the jumping castle, petting zoo, and free pony rides, while parents can browse a colourful display of classic cars or enjoy the upbeat tunes of Ol’ Daze Rockers.
Face painting, fairy floss, and snow cones will add extra sparkle to young faces, while creative minds can get stuck into hands-on art workshops led by Caloundra Gallery.
Inside the museum, history takes centre stage with the launch of Grassroots to Glory: Bounce — a new exhibition celebrating the Sunshine Coast’s rich sporting legacy. Visitors can also catch cultural talks with Traditional Custodian Jason Murphy or browse the Heritage Library’s curated display of local stories and archives.
Council’s Coastal Discovery Van will offer a glimpse into the region’s unique natural processes, while free trees from Parks and Gardens staff will encourage a greener future. Meanwhile, the Landsborough Joey Scouts will be firing up the barbecue for a sausage sizzle fundraiser.
With no need to book, locals and visitors alike are invited to simply show up, explore, learn and enjoy. It’s set to be a day of celebration, connection, and community.
