The Queensland Government has unveiled its “Even Better Public Sector for Queensland” strategy for 2024-2028, aimed at enhancing performance, integrity, and trust within the public sector. The strategy outlines six goals to improve services and outcomes, underpinned by a two-year action plan for effective implementation.
The Public Sector Commission (PSC) will lead the strategy’s rollout, with oversight from the Public Sector Governance Council. Two new community representatives, Ms Angela Leitch and Professor A J Brown AM, have been appointed to the Council to offer expert guidance. Ms Leitch brings significant experience in Indigenous affairs, while Professor Brown is renowned for his work in public integrity.
Premier Steven Miles emphasized the importance of the public sector in delivering impartial, high-quality services, highlighting the strategy’s focus on public sector rejuvenation, performance, and a culturally capable, fair workforce. He expressed full support for the strategy, which is designed to ensure public servants have the tools and conditions needed to excel.
Public Sector Commissioner David Mackie stressed the critical role of the strategy in shaping Queensland’s public sector over the next five years to better meet future challenges and deliver improved outcomes for the community.
