THE Glasshouse Mountains Neighbourhood centre has introduced a free laundry service with Orange Sky providing laundering every Thursday.
Neighbourhood centre volunteer Tudur Howells said the excellent service – with laundry washed and dried in less than an hour – was needed to help people struggling with cost of living pressures.
There is growing demand for services such as Orange Sky, due to the rising rent prices on the Sunshine Coast.
“We are starting to get people come in here now who … have got jobs but living out of vans because they can’t afford rent anymore,” he said.
“Money isn’t a huge problem, they just need somewhere to shower, somewhere to wash their clothes, … so we are getting a bit more of a need for it that way.”
Orange Sky operates from the Glass House Mountains Neighbourhood Centre every Thursday from 9am- 12pm.
