Lights out across the Hinterland

THE Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay region suffered a detrimental power outage on December 1, leaving some Beerwah and Glasshouse residents without power for up to 48 hours.
Electricity in residential areas was affected, as well as traffic lights and services forcing the closure of businesses such as Beerwah Hotel and Club Glasshouse.
The outage was caused by a super cell storm, which hit towns from Caboolture to Nambour.
The storm cell hit the region with heavy rain, large hail and strong winds. Several residents also reported losing a substantial amount of food from their fridge due to the extended outage.
Energex were contacted for comment but did not respond.
