Fire Minister Nikki Boyd has reassured rural fire brigades that local funds and assets will remain with the respective brigades, following ongoing legislative changes.
Boyd met with the Commissioner and Chief Officer of Rural Fire Service to discuss how money raised locally would stay in local communities and how assets would be used exclusively for local purposes.
The new legislation aims to enhance accountability and transparency, ensuring that funds are properly recorded and assets are managed according to best practices.
Boyd acknowledged the invaluable contribution of rural fire service volunteers and the importance of local fundraising in supporting community safety.
