Make way Gold Coast, there is a new amusement centre in Queensland

HINTERLAND businesses have welcomed the next stage of the development of a $130 million water park under construction at Glenview.

After six years of delays, the Sunshine Coast is slowly working its way to become the freshest theme park hotspot on the east coast, as the construction of its first water and pool park finally breaks ground.

Glasshouse Country Chamber of Commerce president Jenny Broderick said it was an exciting development and would be a huge economic boost to the hinterland.

“It will complement much of the great experiences our incredible Glasshouse Country already has on offer, with more to come,” she told GC&M News.

The Perfect Swell wave pool is the most anticipated attraction of the project, with its technology – from American Wave Machine – being used internationally, including recently at the Tokyo Olympics.

Aside from the water park and wave pool, the attraction will also include the Invigorate Resort, a 160-villa family friendly four star resort.

It will constitute a range of different accommodation types, from luxury 100sqm lake- or poolside apartments, to 20sqm one-bedroom eco villas. Restaurants, bars, open-air cinema, spa, gym, cafes and lounges are also all included.

Jenny said that it was great to see unique accommodation options available.

“They will be able to come stay and play for longer,” she said.

Project developer Sanad Capital has split this massive project into two stages, hoping to have the entire project completed by late 2023.

The first stage revolves around the construction of the Actventure Water Park and the first half of the Invigorate Resort villas.

The Perfect Swell wave pool and remaining resort accommodation and facilities will be completed in the second stage.

With work only just begun, the focus at the moment is just on finishing the site office and on laying the basic structure of the attraction, such as roads and car parks.
