FRIDAY, June 13 was our lucky day, a resounding success after postponing the Hospital Charity Golf Day for four weeks due to inclement weather.
Under a beautiful blue winter’s sky, the green looked perfect and early morning player registration commenced.
Players began with a shotgun start at 9am, driving off in their carts with a delicious German Bakehouse Danish, apples, and water to see them through.
The challenge was on again for players to win the Ambrose event — and most of all, enjoy the day. Many club and local players book each year, with some travelling from as far as Brisbane, Tara, and Noosa to play on the Maleny Golf Course and support the hospital.
Thanks to the Maleny and surrounds community, and generous sponsors, the 84 players had an opportunity to win valued prizes to add to the fun.
The Maleny Hospital Auxiliary is grateful to all involved — including the Golf Club team and their volunteers, players, sponsors, personal contributors, and our Hospital Auxiliary volunteers who invested their time and generosity in supporting the event.
A generous club member challenged players to a ‘Hole in One’ on 17, however the windy conditions made it particularly challenging — so no Hole in One this year, unlike last year.
This year, cheers and great delight went to the Nomad Team — regulars to the Golf Club — who took out first prize.
After a well-earned lunch, the team winners, nearest to pin, best gross score were announced, raffles drawn, and the marquee emptied out with players already booking for a return challenge in 2026 — Friday, June 5.
The hospital benefitted generously from this achievement, and the Maleny Hospital Auxiliary is most grateful as funds raised will go towards much-needed equipment.
