MAJOR roadworks on Maleny Kenilworth Road are set to resume in early May, with sections of the busy route expected to close around the clock for up to three weeks.
The works follow disruptions earlier this year when planned upgrades on Beech Street coincided with Energex power pole replacement works, causing significant inconvenience for motorists and local businesses.
Transport and Main Roads (TMR) has confirmed the project will now proceed, with crews also set to resurface Maleny Kenilworth Road from the Beech Street intersection, through to beyond the Rural Fire Brigade headquarters.
Member for Glasshouse Andrew Powell acknowledged the timing would be challenging for the community but said the upgrades were necessary to improve the condition and safety of the roadway.
Concerns surrounding access during the upcoming Maleny Show have also been raised, with assurances given that efforts will be made to complete the works beforehand or maintain access for visitors attending the annual event.
Mr Powell thanked the community for its patience and promised regular updates throughout the project.
