FRESH from their successful production of Patience, the Maleny Singers are inviting new members to audition. Auditions for chorus roles will be held on 5 and 12 September in Maleny.
The choir is welcoming singers of all ages and experience levels. Whether you’ve sung in choirs for years or simply enjoy singing at home, the Maleny Singers offers a friendly, supportive environment where music, friendship and community come together.
New members will have the opportunity to perform in the choir’s annual Christmas fundraising concerts this December before joining the chorus for La Bohème, Puccini’s much-loved opera, which will be presented as a fully staged production with orchestra in 2027.
Principal roles have already been cast, and the Singers are now recruiting chorus members.
Founded in 2003, the Maleny Singers have become an important part of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland’s cultural life. In addition to presenting opera and operetta, the choir regularly performs at community events including the long-established Christmas Concert, Australia Day ceremonies, and Anzac Day commemorations. Through their performances, they have donated more than $67,000 to local community organisations.
Musical Director Margaret Taylor OAM said the choir prides itself on welcoming newcomers.
“Many of our members joined with little or no choral experience. If you enjoy singing and are willing to learn, we’d love to meet you.”
