Queensland Police are investigating a suspicious fire that damaged several tents and caravans at a rest area at Glenview early Wedneday morning (June 18).
Officers were called to Jowarra Park on Steve Irwin Way, Glenview, about 6am following reports a man had deliberately set fire to camping equipment.
Police allege the man caused significant damage before being confronted by responding officers. He was reportedly armed with a metal pole but was taken into custody without incident.
A crime scene has been established at the rest area and forensic investigations are under way.
Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam or phone footage to come forward as inquiries continue.
