A DECADE long community effort has been celebrated with the official opening of the Maleny Men’s Shed new ‘Shedquarters’ on Friday, July 31.
Members, supporters, community groups and local representatives gathered to mark the milestone, recognising the dedication and teamwork that transformed a surplus building into a welcoming hub for connection and friendship.
Men’s Shed president Duncan Burns said the project represented much more than the construction of a building. It was about creating a place where members could meet, socialise, learn and support each other.
The building has a unique history, originally manufactured in the 1970s, packed into six crates and sent to Vietnam before returning to Australia unused and spending almost 40 years in storage.
It was later offered at no cost to not-for-profit organisations.
