Months of upgrades deliver substantial facility improvements for GHC Men’s Shed members

THE Glasshouse Country Men’s Shed has finally reopened its doors following a major transformation.

The Honourable Andrew Powell MP joined members for an informal ceremony recently to mark a proud milestone for the local community.

Although the reopening was modest in scale, the impact is significant.

The shed had been closed since early this year to allow for extensive safety upgrades and major electrical work, which left the facility without power for long periods.

For members, the return means getting back to hands-on projects, both personal and community-focused, that form the heart of the Men’s Shed movement.

From the outside, the changes may appear minimal, but inside, the improvements are substantial.

The facility has almost doubled in size, with a new structure replacing the former open shade shed.

This addition now houses a dedicated metal fabrication section, enhancing capabilities for local makers.

The relocated shade shed, now positioned on the western boundary, accommodates the timber milling machine and stacks of timber products awaiting processing or drying. At the far end of the new building, a spacious wood-turning area has been established, separated from the metalwork zone by an internal wall to ensure safety.

Other upgrades include improved dust extraction across all work areas and a more efficient electrical system, allowing for expanded equipment use.

Locals can see the improvements firsthand at the annual Garage Sale on Saturday 29 November 2025, from 8am to 12pm.

The Glasshouse Country Men’s Shed welcomes visitors every Monday and Wednesday, 8am to 12pm.
