Anne Pickering spent nearly two decades running her much loved business in Landsborough, Eclectic Dreams then Mist n Dreams while also working as a remedial massage and Reiki therapist, Anne has embarked on a new chapter – this time as a published author.
Now, Anne has turned her attention to storytelling, stepping away from full-time business ownership to work part-time and dedicate herself to writing. Her decision was driven by a belief that it is never too late to pursue a lifelong ambition, and a desire to encourage others to do the same.
Earlier this month, she introduced her debut coming-of-age fantasy novel, Stream Reader, during a book signing event at Rosetta Books in Maleny.
The novel is now available through the independent bookstore.
Set within a richly imagined world, Stream Reader follows protagonist Sarian on a journey of discovery, freedom and self-understanding, while weaving themes of energy, healing and social change throughout the narrative.
Early reviews have praised the novel’s imaginative world-building and emotional depth. Reviewer Melisa Radak described the book as “a rollicking tale that will have you questioning the status quo,” while Heidi Lawrence highlighted its themes of “discovery, betrayal and freedom.”
Daina Lindeman commended Anne’s “fluid and poetic” prose, noting the novel’s exploration of “the tension between knowledge and truth.”
For Anne, the release of Stream Reader marks not only a personal milestone, but the beginning of an exciting new creative venture.
